Spanish media: the least trusted in Europe

According to a report from Oxford University the Spanish Mass Media companies are the less trusted in Europe . Only 34% of the Spanish trust most of the news that use most of the time. Similar percentage have Italian and French readers (34% and 35%) and at the other side of the balance there are the readers in Finland (68%) and Germany (60%). Compared with other countries in the world, Spain remains at the bottom of the list, with the United States. The Post Truth strategy is being highly active in Spain during the Catalonia Independence process with lots of accusations of lies and non corrected mistakes on TV and press Media. Instead of objecting facts the Media is appealing to emotions and Spanish nationalism beliefs. But we will talk about Post Truth in Spain in an future post.

#ALERT: Political Prisoners in Europe

Since last Tuesday Europe has again 'Political Prisoners': Jordi Sanchez and Jordi Cuixart ("the Jordis" as its becoming popular to say in Catalonia). Obviously in Spain this will not be officially admitted but in Europe?? How can Europe stay silent? The Jordis are formally charged with sedition at demonstrations of 20th and 21st of September (when Spanish Police burst in Catalan Government buildings to arrest management members of the Government) and later events during Referendum. "The Jordis", on top of a Police car (with permission of the policemen), asking the crowd to leave the area. Thousands of people went to the buildings while the police was still inside. Although "the Jordis" encouraged the crowd to leave the area after hours of demonstration, they have been preventively jailed. They could be in jail, without a definitive sentence, up to 2 years. #ALERT Two social organizations and Catalan Police investigated for sedition

The Presidents of the two most important pro independence social organizations (ANC and Omnium) and the Head of Catalan Police are today declaring at the Audiencia Nacional (a special and exceptional high court in Spain). They are investigated for sedition. ANC and Omnium have been leading the social pro-independence peaceful demonstrations (where more than 1million people took part). During Catalan Referendum they have been always successfully promoting peaceful acts. Mr. Trapero (head of the Catalan Police) is being investigated for their "blatant inaction" during the assault to Polling Stations where more than 800 peaceful people were injured by Guardia Civil and Spanish Police. ANC was founded in 2011 and it has 40.000 members and 39.000 volunteers. Omnium is an historical organization founded in the 60s to promote Catalan culture and language. It has 68.000 members.
