Spain set to impose direct rule within days

Today the Spanish Government decided to impose direct rule on Catalonia. The proposal includes:

  • President of Catalonia and Catalan Government members to be dismissed. Would be substituted by Spanish authorities.
  • Some restrictions would be applied to Catalan Parliament and its functioning would be supervised.
  • Spanish Ministers will take control of Catalan Government.
  • Specifically, will be controlled Catalan treasury, Police and Public Media.
  • Spanish PM will have the power to call for Parliamentary elections.

Meanwhile, two independence social leaders continue jailed accused of secession.
Some organizations as Amnesty International has declared it as an excessive act from Spain.
